Atom THEORY AND ITS STRUCTURE
THEORY of Dalton about atom
In the fifth century BC Greek philosopher Democritus expressed the idea that matter is composed of particles too small, indivisible, which he called atoms (Greece. ATOMOS - inseparable). Although the idea of Democritus was not accepted by many of his contemporaries (particularly Plato and Aristotle), experimental evidence from research of many other authors obtained the "atom" and this gradually grew into the modern definitions of elements and compounds. The best was in 1808 when the English scientist and teacher John Dalton, formulated a definition of the precise for building matter of indivisible parts that we call atoms. Work Dalton era marked the beginning of modern chemistry.
